    Sparring with no headgear?

Was having this discussion with my coach the other day, headgear actually reduces your peripheral vision and also makes you more liable to strikes that you would have dodged cause it makes your head as a target chunkier. Also, there was a study that found less knockouts occured without headgear than with. Of course you're more liable to brain trauma but I personally prefer fighting without it as it feels more natural and I feel lighter (...until you get a hook to the side of the head). Do you guys think it's a good or bad idea?

It probably depends on the type of guys you spar with and how often but i'd worry about cauliflower ear and headbutts. I see that you 18 and I don't know how well you gonna be droppin panties if you get too messed up.

sparring without headgear=you most likely will get cut and your fights will get delayed and you run the risk of getting cut again

Lol I've not been too bad with injuries as I don't get hit much (+only 4 amateur fights) Sore nose/bruised body and ribs but I'd honestly probably cry if I broke my nose. Never broken anything in my life.

I'd rather keep my teeth thanks. I can take a punch pretty well and don't tend to get hit clean. I fight at featherweight but spar much bigger guys so I feel like the hulk in bouts lol

I do it all the time, probably not a good idea though.
