I might just throw my jab several times to practice after my elbow heals, but if anybody has a better idea it would be appreciated.
i will assume that you dont turn your fist over (so if u opened your fist at the end of ur punch, ur palm faces down towards the earth).
trying throwing a vertical fist jab and a horizontal fist jab. the difference is actually the stress it puts on your elbow. not so much power. i guess angle of punch is influenced by that as well. but thats another case.

as for drill to not overextend, go at a slower pace and get used to it.
and as u said, shadow box.
    cheers!

I will do that, although I am not sure that's the problem since I do turn my fist, still it can't hurt.

then maybe you're too powerful .
btw, when you find yourself reaching, footwork/footspeed/overall coordination may be something you are lacking. simply shadow boxing will improve a lot of this .

Haha I have been told I have pretty good power but you are absolutely right I don't have a good delivery system, it has improved since I started shadowboxing and sparring more but obviously it's not were I want it to be yet. I suppose all I can do it practice. Thanks!
