You need to tighten your core when throwing to get more power and snap , if you don't it becomes more of an arm punch . That's one of reasons why when folks tire they throw arm punches because they can't get legs and core into it as much

Try working a defensive drill with someone lighter than you wearing big gloves. Shadow box together with him throwing light shots at your body. Stay close to him and learn how to relax without being limp! Get your reflexes in order as punches come and go. Instead of slipping or blocking tie him up and walk him off to take a break from the offense. These are good drills to learn how to tie up and how to relax the proper way. Your breathing is your key to your stamina once your in shape. Theres a lot of drills you should be doing to learn things like this. You can't be tight 100% of the time, you need to use your eyes and reflexes to train your body to brace then accept air when your clear. Try the defensive drill it should teach you when to relax your muscles and when to tighten up.
