Supplements / Vitamins / Fat Loss / Metabolism

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with supplements. I don't know if this is considered cheating, or whether the body does require certain supplements. I am interested in maybe a multi-vitamin, in case my diet is deficient in something. Also, I am interested in fat loss. I remember taking some green tea pills and I felt I had more energy and felt lighter. How about metabolism boosting, would green tea pills fall under this category?

I am working out hard now for the past 3 weeks, with clean diet for the past 6 weeks. I feel if I keep things constant or even decrease intake, in terms of diet, and increase intensity or activity, in terms of exercise, then I will keep loosing weight.

I am at 4 miles per day this week, and like to increment an extra mile every 2-3 weeks. Final goal is 5-6 miles per day. After run, I do some laterals, skipping, backwards run. I know I need to add sprints and animal exercises.

Boxing workout is more constant, but with more intensity, and I will get uppercut bag next week. Boxing is 15 min. of jump rope, shadow box, heavy bag, speed bag, and double end bag. I would love to start sparring soon, and will ask for sparring once I get below 170 lb.

I am happy with my progress, so far. However, I would definitely be interested if I could get an extra boost from supplements. Right now, I am weighing 171 lb., with 170 lb. goal for Saturday. I have maybe another 5-6 weeks of training for target goal of 150-154 lb. goal, at 5'11" height.

P.S - I do all my workouts at night and I've been getting very hungry right after. The past two days I have eaten about 1 lb. of fruit right before bed, and my weight in the morning has suffered. I can feel the food from the previous day in my stomach, and I usually like to go to the bathroom right when I wake up and lose an extra 2-3 lbs. This night eating definitely sounds bad, but can someone give me some advice on being crazy hungry right after workout. Should I just ignore the hunger and go straight to bed. Also, how can I ensure I go to the bathroom in the morning, to get rid of an extra 2-3 lbs? I am also drinking a gallon of water per day.

i've taken creatine off and on [mostly off] for about eight years.

i usually use it for two-three months out of the year. that stuff makes you freaking strong...

i don't care for it, honestly, but it does help me out in recovery and overall strength. my stomach knows it's not real food, and it's not a fan.

Damn, that's crazy. I'm just trying to lose weight, though. Good mass gain, with muscle, sounds tough. I don't know what the workouts require, but do they avoid cardio. What workouts burn the most calories? Obviously, you take in more calories then you burn for weight gain.

Marquez has a badass physique, though. What is your training regimen like? I saw your ab videos, 30 min. is a long time for abs. That's crazy commitment. I only workout for like 2 hrs. per day. Usually 15 min. stations for boxing, and 30-40 min. runs.

How does creatine make you gain weight? High calorie? What nutritional value does it have? I see on calorie count it gets a C- for food grade. How does creatine make you feel and why?

It doesn't make you gain weight, it doesn't have many calories that is not what it does. It helps with recovery, muscular endurance, helps inflate the muscle cell, and I personally think helps with mood, focus, and energy.

it's not too crazy to use creatine for two months out of the year. i;ve also gone several years without any creatine at all.

some people do a lot more. it's really not a crazy supplement. it does make you strong, and really helps with recovery. if you lift weights, i'd suggest trying it out.

as for losing weight, whatever gets your heart rate skyrocketing, and leaves you drenched in sweat, is best.

i can pedal a stationary bike for a very long time. when i get off the seat and do one minute sprints every five or ten minutes, it's a real workout.

i'd try and find something that works for you. you want to find something you can do regularly, and that you'll enjoy. right now, i'm loving the stationary bike at my gym.

the activity that i believe to be the one that's burned the most calories for me was hockey. you sprint for minute long shifts wearing a ton of equipment. i can't think of anything that burns more calories minute per minute. ice time is expensive, and i haven't played in years other than pond skating.
