Do you guys sprint on your sparring days?

I want to add sprints, I don't start sparring until like late at night when I get to the gym, usually around 6pm or so. If I start sprinting at 6:30am in the morning, I get close to 12 hours rest, do you think that's plenty of time to rest up for sparring?

Of course, I will only be sprinting 3 days a week, and I only spar two to three times a week as well.

Thing is, I attend class where they have sparring and I spar on Weds, Thurs and Sat

I do conditioning days, and training days seperate. I want sparring days for the fighters to be fresh as they can, so we can really go hard and test each other.

We start with sparring on sparring days, then you can work on other stuff. Conditioning days are nothing but conditioning all practice long.

Most people would probably advise you to do them on separate days but I'd say it all depends on how you feel after you do them. You should know your body better than anybody else to answer the question.

Honestly it's all just a mind thing, I did much better sparring when ever I did my road work in the morning and that includes sprinting. And I won all of my fights as an amateur

Do sprints after sparring if possible.

You can get an intense session done in 10 to 15 minutes (you will already be warmed up from sparring). I get our boxers doing shuttle runs in the ring or up and down the gym floor (touching the a marker on the floor with opposite hands on each turn). We generally do 4 to 6, 60 seconds shuttle runs with 60 seconds rest but I like to mix it up - try it!!! If you work at 100% you will find this kind session isn't much fun, but it is certainly effective.

Also, just to add, short shuttle runs (i.e. 3 to 20 metres) are more "sport specific" than traditional longer intervals as you are developing you ability to change direction (agility / balance). They also work the quads and core more as you are bending down at each turn. Focus on changing direction as fast as possibly, and accelerate from each turn as explosively as possible.

If you want to challenge yourself you can record the number of shuttles you manage in a specific period of time or set yourself a goal of say 30 shuttles of 10 metres and time yourself. Obviously you try to beat this over time.

Keep the sessions short and focus on intensity and I guarantee you will see great improvements in your boxing fitness.

We dedicate 3 days a week to nothing but conditioning. Our gyms fighters are KNOWN for their conditioning.

My boys don't fade, neither do I. We put out fighters, not legends in their own minds.

Nice to see everyone getting along still.................

The perfect scenario would be to rest the days you spar if your a competitive active fighter. Its the same scenario you'd follow the day of a bout! If your still in the learning stages I don't see any harm especially if there's 8 hours separating the run from the ring.

Okay continue disrespecting each other........................its what you guys do since these idiot kids got here and are tolerated!!

.....1520 I think Rockin' was referring to daddragon comments......whatever..
