Ultimately you want to rest your knuckles for 1-2 days until 90% or all the pain goes away before using it or else you're never giving your hands the time to heal and actually calcify.

Ive been boxing for just over a year now.

My only knuckle problem used to be just abrasions but now the problem is my knuckles getting really sore after sessions.

Try taking upwards a week or two off, until the pain is completely gone. During that time, switch between ice and warm compress. When coming back after a couple weeks, try padding your fists with more wraps or a sponge. Your hands might need some TLC after the initial bruising.

Put more padding on the knuckles when wrapping hands. Taking a calcium supplement wouldn't hurt either.
