  • How to best use and throw Bruce Lees straight lead (power jab)

Hows do you throw it stepping forward? Is there weight transfer? Or does the weight remain central / on the back foot even when coming forward with it?

How do you use it in boxing how does its use differ from a regular jab?

Its gonna take a real expert to answer this one!

You transfer the power by pressing off of your back leg, rotating your hips, extending your shoulder & popping your elbow all in one motion; using momentum to throw a devastating lead straight with potential knockout power.

The difference between that and the traditional jab is that the latter is usually used as a range finder &/or to set up a power shot.

The weight is centralized on your back foot and gradually transfers to your lead foot throughout the punch.

If you have anymore questions, let me know.

      Thats awesome bro! Thankyou!

Does the weight start on the rear foot and transfer to the front foot? If so how can you follow up with a rear cross punch? When all your weight is on the front foot? (It will make the rear cross punch really weak)

Bruce Lee stressed that consciously you distribute your weight (65% on the rear foot and 35% on the lead foot if I'm not mistaken; have to check my notes) for stability and recovery so when you perform the straight you're kind of switching the percentages for a split second so you can still have leverage in the front leg to escape the pocket quickly or quickly transfer back for a combination.

See what you're thinking is that you lunge your whole body forward in the motion & shifting all of your weight onto the lead foot which would be a dire mistake. If you watch Bruce, his momentum was thrown in a step/glide type of motion (not lunges) for mobility and recovery.

It's about what's most effective/doing what works best for you. Mimicking styles is for the unoriginal and those who lack creativity.

You're coming up short/no power on your right hands because you're not bringing the right foot up with the right hand. In these instances the right foot lands, setting down/pushing through, at the same time that the shot lands. Just start bringing it up with the right hand and you'll see.

this guy is a troll, and it pisses me off. it's quite obvious that he's just winding people up with his idiocy. he should be banned from the training section at the very least.

you guys need to stop replying to him.

oh, and bruce lee was an actor.
if he weren't a moviestar who died young you wouldn't know who he was. he had a ton of physical talent, but he used it to act like a fighter, not fight people.

                  here's his pro fighting record:

                  0-0-0.

he's going to come form the grave to finally make his debut.

Couldn't agree more, he has been on my ignore list for some time. Its blatant trolling and lame as hell.
