  • any of you train with a weighted vest?

I did my roadwork in a 30lb vest the other day and I was dying... **** made a big difference to me and I'm thinking of buying one to run in now. Anybody here train with them regularly or have experience with em? I dont know if there are any setbacks or cons to using one but based off that one experience I'd recommend getting one if you can.

Yeah its a pretty good training tool man, try it out while working the heavy bag

Round with it on, round with it off, repeat for 4-6 rounds making sure you finish with the vest off. Good for improving speed of movement and mobility.

Sometimes we would work the heavybag with the weighted vest plus wrist and ankle weights

Bad on your shoulders, more cons than pros.

I wear one whenever I'm doing plyo's. Try doing a 50" seated box jump with 20lbs on the vest.

I use to wear one most of the time, but it's not good to run on a hard surface with them on. Try running at a park on the grass or the beach on the sand. It's really bad for your knees & shoulders. Now I only wear one when I hit the bags or shadow. That will help allot with stamina, mobility & making you stronger, but try not to run so much with it.

Only use it when I'm doing things such as Plyo's but I don't spar, or train in them as i hurts my lower back...

yea, i could see how impact training will adversely affects your joints but seems ok for stuff like pullups. saw a guy at the gym last week doing pullups with a weighted vest.

I had heard that working with ankle weights on can screw with your timing. Is this true? Would the vest have the same effect?
