    New Here..some questions

hey, I just started taking up boxing about 3 weeks ago, as a hobby. Plus, since I'm going to VMI (******ia military institute, they require boxing, wrestling, and swimming as P.E. courses)
    I'm 17 years old,slim 6'0, 150 lbs(I'm always this weight-why?)
Anywho, the guy makes us do 3 minutes of an activity, with a 1 minutes rest break( during which, we have to do 20 sit-ups or 10 push-ups), and then 3 minutes of acitvity again. Activities range from 3 rounds of jump rope ( 9minutes), shadow boxing ( 5 lb dumbells) heavy bag, medicine ball, stationary bike. In the meantime, he teaches bit by bit. Of course, before all of this, we gotta do 15 minutes of stretching. Is this all good? Could there be any other activities I could be doing to improve? I know one area I would like to work on is my chest, my pecs, becuase right now, if you hit, it got no nothing there, just a chest plate, so I need to bulk up some muscle there..any hints?
Thanks for any help at all, I know it's a handful, but I'm really enjoying boxing so far, ( had my first spar the other day- that will lead to another post)

Well since you are a just a begginer you should listen to your trainer. He will gradually build you up. 6'0 and 150 is rather slim for that height but it gives you an advatage over your opponents. You can probably drop to 140 after you get all that water out. For now, just do the basics, more or less what your coach tells you and you will do fine.

As for the chest muscle, do some bench pressing. Elevated and flat will do the trick. I suggest 3 sets of 8-12 reps raising the weight up at least 5-10 pounds each time you finish a set and resting a good 1-3 minutes between sets. That should build muslce in your chest, but it will also gain you weight.

are there any exercises that I can do at home w/o a bench press and barbells, that will work the pecs? Second, what's better, sit-ups or crunches? Right now, I've been doing crunches..but I was never quite clear on the advantages/dis of either one...

leff, pecs are the chest muscles, in between the shoulders, and below the neck ( nipple region
ok, so clap pushups- that's just clapping your hands after you have pushed yourself up, right?
and inclined pushups- pushups on an inclined plane, i guess?
plus, about how many should i do...like 2x15, every other day?
