    Building up your pectoral muscles.

I want to build up my pecs,I dont care too much about abs, but want to avoid the development of man boobs. Hence pecs are a priority. I hope to join a gym tomorrow.

Any excercises you recommend. I could buy a bench set?

You could buy a bench set (I did, but that because I'm in the country.) If you've got the time and money go the gym. Bench/inclined bench is best for your pecs I think. But if you are afraid of getting "man boobs" you are going to have to do push ups and cardio too, lifting weights doesn't burn much fat.

lifting weights burns lots of calories actualy. If you want a good full chest do Flat Bench,Incline Dumbell Press and Incline Dumbell Flies

        Incline dumbell press...

I always thought lifting weights would burn major cals. I must reduce my chocolate intake for starters. I can do that easily, just some will power.

3 days a week seems to be the recommended work out rate.

Do bench and incline presses, and do them heavy. I recommend that you buy your own equipment. Most gyms nowadays are expensive and the gym scene sucks anyway. If you've ever been a member of a bodybuilding gym, you know what I'm talking about. Lots of talking and less lifting. At home, you can concentrate more without waiting for an equipment to be vacated.

            1) Whose the chick in those pics?

            2) Is that tae-kwon-do in the avatar?

            3) An entire set of weights would be mad expensive. I'd require a bench, obviously, with a set of weights, and one of those side to side chesgt building machines.

              3) to save money on the equipment, maybe several friends can chip in so you guys can all use the bench at home

If your buying your own bench make sure its one that you can change from flat to incline. AND STAY AWAY FROM SMITH MACHINES

Along with your regular chest workout, you should vary your routine.

For instance, one week do barbell bench press/incline press, the next week do dumb-bell bench press/incline press.

Working out with dumb-bells help to work on the many stabilizing muscles that work when you do these exercises.

by the way, if you're going to blast your chest, make sure to also workout the opposing muscle group -- your back. over development of a muscle while neglecting the antagonistic muscle group might lead to injury in the future
