It sure is a lost art, even from my time it's become a lost art. I mean now a days guys are shifting them exactly when the spot lights on him. Anymore today it looks like acouple of baboons the way that they're shifting them around. Back in the day I heard that Benny Leonard would jump out of the spot light into a crouching position where he would adjust his cup while kicking out altlernate legs to give those guys a good shift. But still, nobody even comes close to when a baseball player needs to shift his nards around......... Rockin'

That was different. They were on the inside and Donaire was more squared up. It didn't look like a conscious effort on Donaire's part. It was just how his body ended up positioned after they got untied up.

I'm not a huge fan of shifting. I've practiced some techniques doing this on the bag but I've never tried it out in sparring. I am right handed but box southpaw, I am just not coordinated with moving as orthodox and haven't cared to try and be.

This and take into account the way Rigo was standing he had no way of leanin to his backfoot to absorb the shot.

Some people "shift" out of opportunity though I suppose. I cant recall what fight it was but I remember Morales landed a big shot off a shift as he had momentum on his side and the shift put him in position to land it.
