  • Help with making weight

I have to make a certain weight by Friday. I'm 10lbs over right now; what can I do other than not eat for 2 days to make the weight.

I was planning to only drink water Wednesday and Thursday....then on the day of the weigh-in wake up really early and run about 4 miles with a sweatshirt on and then sit in the sauna for about 20 minutes....

    Anyone have any pointers?

10 lbs in a week? Have you considered severing a limb?

Serious now, what do you have to lose this weight for?

When I was training, fighting at 147, I would loss around 8 pounds of water weight per session. James Toney loved to work in a hot gym, the first thing that we did when we got there every afternoon to train was to turn the thermostat all the way up. It was crazy hot in there, I learned to love the heat though. Wearing plastics and sweat suites I'd do my thing and acouple of hours later, after showering and drying off I'd be around 8 pounds lighter. I would never recommend not eating, although doing what I had to do make weight I did the fasting thing aswell, but only as a last re4sort. If you are bigger than I am you could loss more water weight than I did. Drying out, not eating or drinking to make weight, is a ***** and will affect your performance if a physical activity is what you need to lose the weight for.......... Rockin'

The gym I go to doesn't have A/C or heat...I hate the winters but I LOVE when it's 95+ outside...the sweat just pours.

But yea, 10lbs in a week...you better aim to make it water weight vs. not eating then rehydrate after weigh in.

I'm not big. I'm making weight for the Marines, so I don't have to do any physical activity after the weigh-in.

Taking the easy way out. You are a trained warrior man, the more you put in the more you get out. You should be out there eating that extra physical activity for lunch, not trying to avoid it.

You really should have put in the work before hand man.

I am in NO WAY recommending that you follow my wreckless and unhealthy (not to mention dangerous) way of losing weight fast. But this is how I used to do it when I really needed it.

You find a sauna, a mental jump rope, 3 garbage bags, some duct tape, and a sweat suite (top and bottom).

You poke holes and use the garbage bag as an under shirt with your head popping out of the bottom of the bag and arms out the sides, put the sweat shirt on over it and pull the hood over your head. Then wrap bags around your leg/s securing with duct tape. Put on your sweat pants, acouple pair of sox, shoes and jump in that sauna. Start skipping for a bit with your mental jump rope and the sweat will start pouring. Jump out when you feel that you've had enough, dry yourself off completely with a towel and check your weight. If at 1st you don't succeed, try, try again. Then you neither eat or drink until after you step off of the final scale. Not a drop and not a nibble. 1 sip turns into 1 pint and one bite turns into many bites of something. Do not break your will.

You put this on yourself man, it's called drying out. It's more common than a truely educated jab these days in the sport............

This is not safe in my opinion. But that's how I got the weight off when I really had too do it fast.

The green hefty bags work well! Sipping tea and honey (hot) also helps. Chewing gum and spitting while you rope work is another way to utilize the garbage bags!! Rinsing & spitting only NO drinking!! Ray.

It's not that I'm taking the easy way out. I just have to stay at a certain weight and I'm over that weight. I run 3 times a week and eat a healthy diet......but I have muscle mass but a skinny neck. I'm talking like 13.5 inches width....So they do a body fat test by measuring my waist at the naval and neck. They subtract waist-neck and that's your percentage...inaccurate I know. So my best bet is to make weight.

That's excellent advice and GREEN K is sent.
