A bag that heavy can be counter-productive, teaches you bad things. I worked at a gym where a 'world champion' boxer trained, and her trainer would put her on this 200 pound bag, and she had no idea what to do with it.
The force from a punch is concussive, much different from the force needed to get 200 pounds of hanging dead weight in motion. That takes a push, not a punch. This girl completely un-learned how to punch screwing around on that bag while her 'trainer' talked **** around the gym about how much they were gonna make on the next fight.
Get a good sized bag and hang it high so it swings. Your punches will move it, that will make you move. That teaches you how to move around a body, how to set and re-set your feet when you punch. All those things are at least as important to punching hard as brute strength.

It has nothing to do with power. Its all about leverage and Body kinetics/mechanics. Bruce lee developed plenty of techniques to trains this.

and ontop of what everyones sayin:

lets say you had the right idea your still doing it wrong because your power, energy , intertia etc.... comes from your legs. and to be able to manipulate that energy correctly you need to have youre mechanics down, which then transfers it into the punch

Developing power has very little to do with boxing. Technique will help but very little. Power comes from the ground up in a muscle chain like action (kinetics) from the moment you pivot or step with a punch. Power travels all the way up until it is transferred or better yet delivered to the hand. Power can be increase through using a heavy bag and other boxing equipment but you are very limited. It's better to implement a proper strength training program that works on all the involved muscles and this takes time. Sometimes even years specially if you're still growing. This is why elite athletes do strength and conditioning apart from boxing skill training. In the amateur system, most boxers cramp up their training in one workout, which most of the time becomes counterproductive for many reasons. My advise would be for you to hire a trainer who has knowledge in sports strength training. I would give you more advise but it would take me some time. I hate giving advise for free because most of the time people will just end up going for something easier and developing power is not easy. Read some books and create a training program and stick to it. There's a lot of good literature on the subject just look for the ones that have scientific evidence to back it up.

This is true. I work with a couple of pro boxers, including Giovani Seguar, who has natural punching power so we really don't have to work too much on trying to increase his power. Instead we work on him being more explosive but this does mean that someone who doesn't posses natural strength and power cannot increase in these areas because it is possible.

i think it's very possible to become a powerful fighter. technique is definitely one of them and legs , legs will get you where you need to be. Punches arent always about that initial contact made from them it's the force generated from your body that follows through with it that sends shockwaves of pain to your opponent. LEGS LEGS LEGS LEGS LSEG LSEG LSEG LSEG LSE GLSE GLSEG LSEG LSE GLS EGLES GLS EGL SELG LSE GLESG .....for real though..legs.

Thats good make sure u have great technique first then u need to work on your core and your legs that is where your power comes from (quadriceps etc.) Power does not come from your biceps alot of people think that having big arms make u a knockout machine which is a myth, just work on technique, leg strength and core/back strength all these combined should develop power also i don't believe that punchers are born, yes there is such a thing as raw power but just look at Marquez over these past few years he has made a huge improvement in his power.

First of all, I wish you have a trainer who teaches you and reveals excellent way of stunning. Secondly, once you know how to toss excellent blows, perform 5- units on bag and 5-6 units on safety gloves.

                      10 rounds on mitts

10 rounds on a 200 pound heavy bag will increase my power heavily
This won't help you with power. Even if you went through this ridiculous over training regime the result would be that you would have to pace yourself and go low tempo. Think about this in terms of how a sprinter would train. He wants fast explosive movement not distance training. This crazy regime of yours might upgrade your endurance but it won;T help with explosive power. In fact it would be detrimental.
Work on technique where you use the ground for leverage for ground up power and explosive movement.
