Punch like tyson

If technique is the only thing you need to punch like Mike Tyson, why don't more boxers punch like Tyson? Is it that Cus D'Mato had a secret only you and him had? LOL
Speed, Chin and power are things you are born with. Can you improve you're power and speed? Sure, but to have the raw natural power or Tyson or the incredible speed of Meldrick Taylor, you need to have that in you genetically.
Why does Usain Bolt run faster than every human being on the planet? Is it technique?Last edited by Cuauhtémoc1520; 03-22-2013, 03:37 PM.

This is the truth you heard it here first because it came directly from me!
PUNCHERS ARE BORN AND MADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can some people no matter what never hit hard? = YES
Are some people just born with the ability to punch hard? = YES
Are some people in the middle and stay in the middle? = YES
Are some people in the middle and become great punchers? = YES
Is there a sliding scale a spectrum that everyone falls on that determins how hard they hit and their genetic potential/limitation in how far they can improve? = YESLast edited by AlexKid; 03-22-2013, 04:22 PM.

For what it's worth Jack Dempsey said that punchers are made, not born. And that it was a common misconception to believe the opposite.

punchers are made, but being naturally fast and strong definitely help, but 80% of boxers should be able to punch if they really wanted to, it's the mindset nowadays
people put too much stock on "boxers", where one guy will land 5 bombs and the other 10 jabs and run around and people will make an arguement to the "boxer" winning the round, so ofcourse now more boxers are deciding to pitty pat their way to a decision
that and the AM system too

im not saying "boxers" aren't smart, im talking strictly about why their aren't as many punchers as of recently
im saying nowadays everyone has the "box him" mindset, from the AM's it's touch, touch, rack up points, move to pro's and people keep their same routine so ofcourse we wont be see'ing many punchers when people aren't training for punching power, most nowadays dont condition their knuckles, pad work is a rhythmic flash over commitment to punching and it's a modern mindset more than "a puncher just hasn't been born yet"
one of the best things fighters are doing now is those big ass gloves and exploding with them, committing with their entire bodies into punches, utilizing proper technique giving us the likes of mikey garcia, nonito donaire
need to get me these weighted gloves, dumbells are about to tear my elbow off me

If you notice, all of those guys had different techniques and styles. For example, Joe Lewis hit nothing like Mike Tyson, he was built completely different. He was taller, longer and hard long shots. Where as Tyson or Tua are built short, compact and power came from leverage.
Just like some humans are born to run faster, some are born to hit harder or lift more weight naturally. Chin on the other hand is something I believe either you have or you don't. I have yet to see evidence of something that will help your chin. Some say working your neck muscles is the key but I'm not sure.

Easy for Dempsey to say that..hahah He was one of the hardest punchers ever!
Again, you can increase power and speed but I'm talking about that elite level of one punch power. Tyson, Julian Jackson, Foreman, Shavers, Olivares.. I can go on and on.
