    are you even serious?
you're critiquing the guy who trained what might be the planet's number one p4p fighter. training fighters is a result based phenomenon. you're as good as they're able to perform.

    who have you trained?

i've seen your videos and you're working with novices. do you have some hidden stable of world champions we don't know about?
Clearly, you can't recognize a condescending tone based off other threads that berate mitt work methods that work (i.e. cauth's thread on Mayweather's).

Great thread, Coach. Hopefully people will take notice of how effective these fighters training methods are. If you can, check out the mitt work Lamont Peterson does.

1st of all in a fight you don't punch for 20 minutes straight! Rounds are 3 min with a 60 sec break in-between. 2nd all those pitty pat punches....bs, it's a phenomenon he almost dropped Cotto in the 12 round training like this. 3rd You don't need a high number of punching repetitions as a boxer. Sure Basketball Players should shoot 1000 shots a day, Football players should practice 1000 penalty kicks, but Boxing all those soft punches are a waste! You should throw 300 really hard punches and that's it. 10,000 punches a session smh waste of time. That's why he has no KO'S and only Wins
      Outstanding post. Brilliant.

He has a very respectable K.O ratio of around 65%
My take is you can use the pads, bags etc for many different things, not just power or one thing specifically.
Pads aren't typically used to develop power they're typically used for developing offensive & defensive skills, to sharpen reflexes and conditioning.
A lot of these videos are media days and simply for show, exhibition stuff.

No offense Barry, but right here in this thread you have exemplified and to an extent personified one of the most potent problems in amateur boxing. Certainly in the UK anyway. You truly repleted the cliche when you said "It's all about the 1-2". That exact phrase is why a lot of young amateurs in the UK struggle to adapt to the professional game.

I am aware that their is a good chance you are trolling here, but the point needs to be made regardless. Too many trainers across the country lack a wider understanding of the sport. Too a lot of them, it's all about a strong high guard and a 1-2. Whenever they see problems for their fighter it's "throw the 1-2", "keep your hands up". Obviously this is a generalization, but having boxed amateur in the UK I have witnessed first hand coaches like Barry who adopt this caveman approach to the sport.

Boxing is a very complex sport, and when it comes to the professional game, a high guard and a strong 1-2 simply isn't enough. When you watch the likes of Andre Ward and Floyd Mayweather in the ring, they brake all kinds of old school 'rules', they drop their lead hand, they dip below the waist etc. It's all about an effective fighting style that suits a fighters natural attributes. When your in the ring, you don't always turn every punch over, you don't always throw every punch with 100% power, so why only practice punches that are fully extended power punches? It doesn't make sense, and that's why the best trainers in the world have unorthodox training methods, they appreciate the nuances of the sport.

A lot of it comes down to stubbornness. You were taught that way, you teach that way. If more trainers were willing to analyze the sport and break the outdated mold, we would have more UK fighters with styles like Mayweather, Broner, RJJ etc. Styles that work. I'm not taking anything away from UK fighters, because we continue to produce great fighters. But a part of that is because we are starting to develop coaches like Adam Booth, Ingle etc who do appreciate the strategic elements of the sport.

                    LMAO Funny thread. Good stuff.

Even funnier is Barry posting a video of Broner. I remember going back n forth with you on Facebook when Broner fought Perez. You actually thought Perez had a chance. Told you then that Broner was special.
