That's the minimum standards for a 3 mile run. They award you points based upon your time, 28 being drop dead time and 18 minutes being the perfect 100 points.

Also pull ups and crunches, this is the basic USMC physical fitness test. About a year before I got out or so they started also doing the CFT combat fitness test which was quite different.

I've never ran sub 18, 18.30 was my best time ever and I was one of the better runners in my platoon. Theres always someone who runs like 14-15 minute 3 mile though.

I'm surprised that the minimum standard is so low for three miles. Thats 9 min 20 pace per mile. Not tough at all.

As for the guys who can run 14-15 min for 3 miles.......terrific! One of my old mates from school ran 15:01 for 5K recently. 5K is 3.1 miles. Crackers!!

Yeah it's so bad you can almost walk the 3 miles and make it, getting the 20 pull ups is far more beneficial for the score than getting a perfect run is honestly. Not many people are that ****ty that they hover around the 28 mark but there are a few.

PRMC ( potential royal marines course ) Royal Marine Commandos is 3 mile in 22.30 .I've did one .Passed it but no f-----g chance I stuck thee 32 weeks commando course ( 7 weeks ).TS you want to run faster a few sets of squats and lunges will get u there .I used to do 30 lunges each leg x 3 and 30 squats x 3 total 180 each leg .Just start with about 15 and make sure to stretch or you won't be walking for atleast a week .Also highly recommend a protein shake post workout or make sure to get some protein and carbs in you .Some difference once you recover you can pick the pace right up .
