  • Average time for running 2,8-3 miles?

    Hey guys,

I decided that I was tired of being sloppy with too much BF and with my musclemass I just looked ridiculously wide (much like a refrigerator), so I cleaned up my diet and workouts.

I started running when I began this whole process and it's been about 2 weeks since I began and I began with a conditioning solely from weightlifting.

I've been running 2,8-3 miles in 18 minutes flat, is that a mediocre time?

I just finished the longest run I have had in 2 years today, which was 5 miles and I finished that in 36 minutes.

In what time do you run 2,8-3 miles in?

Sorry Bud, but what are '2,8-3 miles'? I'm a keen runner but I haven't got a clue what that is.

At a guess is it a 2.8-3 mile run in 18 minutes? How did you measure the distance? A sat watch or a measured track? A car will not give you an accurate measurement.

For what its worth 3 miles in 18 mins is a good intermediate club level time, but 2.8 miles in that time is quite a difference and less impressive ( remember 0.2 of a mile is 320 metres or so ).

Your 5 mile time isn't far off 7 min mile pace, which is far from embarrassing too.

As for my 3 mile time, my personal best at present is 17 mins 17 seconds. But that was enroute to a 5 mile race in 29 mins 30 secs.

Yes that's correct, I was doing the math in my head, converting the kilometers into miles and that's why it's a bit confusing. I mean the 3 miles.
I measured it with a GPS tracker on my phone, so it might be a bit faulty. However, I have measured several runs on the same route and I improved by a minute over the last 3 times.

I'm glad to hear that.. I've never really been into running that much, but once I began I just can't stop now!

That's some impressive times! How long have you been running?

I've always ran quite alot, but took it up competitively at the beginning of 2011.

Once you start timing things and/or racing......it can get really addictive. No idea why.

You could book yourself into a local 5k or 10k and see how you do under the pressure of a race.....I think you'd do well.

What does that mean 2,8-3 can't understand .That looks like a well decent 5 mile time to me .My personnel bests I remember .

          1.5 mile 9.28
          4.5 mile 33.15
I forget my 3 mile time but it's a little over or under 20 minutes flat .
Does that mean 2.8 roughly .
I'm hopefully going for a run tomorrow defintley .

heavy lifting burns more fat then cardio. But I say that a decent time. You are not trying to qualify for the olympics just trying to regain some umph back into your step sort of speak./

Also this is a handy site I use when I run outside to track how far I ran.

Yeah exactly, it's after I began to time myself that I started finding running more interesting. My old man is an avid runner and runs marathons & whatnot.. He's also ex-military and tried to make me pick up running when I was 13-14.. Just never caught onto it before now hehe..

Yea that's an interesting thought, we do have some local runs around here from time to time, might try my luck and push myself a bit extra.

I do deadlifts, squats, bent-over-rows, bench press, military press in a 2 split + isoloation & BW exercises in between my runs..

So I lift weights on Monday for example, run on Tuesday, Weights Wednesday and so forth.. Although I give myself one day for restitution every week.

I clarified it in an above post, I calculated the km to miles by head and that's why I wasn't quite sure.. When I got home it turned out to be 3 miles! Fast time for 5 miles.. How long have you been running?
