Boxing classes??? Maybe a book club might better suit you, there you can discuss the reading.
Heres real advice from a retired boxing trainer who trained amatuer and pros for 40 years. Keep your mouth shut and your eyes and ears opened! Get your body in great condition and work hard on what your taught. Work hard enough so that the trainer searches YOU out!! If your name is still not known after doing these things for 6 to 8 months then your not very good. Atleast you got in great shape and you could probably out box the rest of the noncontendors at the book club meetings. Ray.

idk if my coach is a good one...here is why, a few days ago he taught me combo move, but then the next day he told me to keep practicing all the moves he has taught me...but hes only taught me one. and sometimes he tells me to do some new stuff but i have no idea what to do since all he has taught me is a left and right hook.

and to make it even worse..its been 4 days and he dont even know my name. on my 3rd day some new guy joined and he knows his name already..i feel like there is lack of respect but maybe im just being silly, any advice?

sorry to rain on your parade, but this is what it is:

if you dont have ample talent you arent going to get the same attention as a kid who walks into the gym with speed and power.

        are you wowwing this guy?

if not, i am sorry, but it sounds like he's giving the attention to the guys with talent. work on whatever he's showing you. if you arent being a bother, you can perhaps ask some of the older / more experienced guys in the gym to show you the ropes. the subleties of boxing cannot be taught by the novice, but the very basics are not hard to develop.

the funniest thing i've read to date on bscene was in a thread where larry threatened to "pull corso off of his high horse and **** him"

corso is a total clown. i read his stuff and think "this guy either held the spit bucket for top fighters, or he trained kids and no namers."

he literally mentions duran losing to camacho once a week, like it means something.

i gave him respect for maybe five minutes, because he's so damn old and he's been around for a while. now i realize that what he does with his "experience" is not worthy of respect.

Man, that had me in stitches for ages. I even used it on one of my friends for a laugh.

Hey New England you from somewhere in New England, because thats my old stomping grounds. Maybe the gyms you've worked in are old friends of mine? Maybe we know some of the same people IN boxing? Ya think? My pm to the punk who said all that junk took care of him, talk is always tuff when people are thousands of miles away, you know what I mean. Its been established that barnyard is NOT a fighter never trained an ant, manages himself to be a tuff guy on the net and talks way above his head on a subject he READS about but has nothing in common with. The OP is either a talentless kid whose gym is taking his dues for overhead help or he's just another filler in a gym. My advice to him was direct and very true, no fluff no BS. Just straight up advice, the book club comment was to light a fire just in case he has some fire in him. You can't read into that cuase you have NO spark in you, other than some folks calling you Lil' Sparky!! Ray

What? Cutting out 1/6 of your arsenal doesn't sound like a good idea. Besides, you can counter any punch not just a lead hook or rear hand hook.

What does it matter, though. Don't worry about people training you. Chances are they probably aren't very good, anyways. Otherwise they would have world champions. Teach yourself by watching videos of your favorite fighters. You will learn the most by watching what the pros do. You shouldn't depend on other people helping you. You just need a trainer to reinforce what you already know. I think its ridiculous some people actually pay people to train them to learn to box. That's crazy.

You're arrogance is only exceeded by your ******ity.

You sound like someone with dementia going on a long dwindling ramble that leaves everyone listening awkwardly looking at each other trying not to laugh.

If you throw a rear hook more than likely your squaring up to land it. If your close and throwing it then that is usually fine , but throwing from a distance is just asking to get countered or hit air every time. What's the fastest way between 2 points? Definitely not a wide semi arch.
