  • does anybody have issues with sudden/rapid dehydration, especially muscle shrinkage?

i have always had problems where i lose weigth rapidly for no apparent reason, this also leads to big losses in strength and stamina and occurs alot, especially if i dont eat every two hours, its almost like the opposite to carb loading and it is so bad i get pain at the back of my head when sparrring or even just hitting a bag....im drinking enough and taking protien shakes but this keeps happening and it happens FAST!! Like over night fast losing an averge of 12lbs...any help or advice would be greatly appreciated...

Everyone weighs less in the mornings, if you're losing strength and feeling drained & getting pains in the back of your head if you don't eat every 2 hours then I'd recommend you go & see a doctor, immediately.

This sounds serious, i have the same condition where i need to eat alot of protein to maintain mass and sweat profusely. Absolutely too much water loss.

hey thanx,..iv'e been told that changing diet or stopping training causes this but over a few days if you are insulin, sugar and glucose sensitive and that a few people see weight loss suddenly because gycogen stores in muscles hold water (5lbs in weight for every lb of stored carbs) and if blood sugar levels change rapidly the bodys homeostasis is unsettled and the the stored glycogen is used as fuel (instead of food that's been consumed )and all the stored water in the cells rapidly dehydrated. Also that some fighters bodies naturally drain water weight (like before a weigh in without the hard work) by simply cutting calorie intake!! crazy!!! the only down side is significant loss of strength and endurance so have to fight at their walking around weight instead of cutting calories and dieting... thanx

I think you should be checked for hyperthyroidism.

thanx have been and they said i look like i have insulin sensitivity and because i work as a tree surgeon, train, spar, lift weights and go running the amount of food im eating is putting strain on my bodys ability to control insulin levels and looks like i might have pushed thru it and caused diabetes even tho i eat healthy whole grains etc and am lean...my insulin is never just right, its either high or low and carb stored as glycogen are gained and diminished rapidly with insulin change and that causes the body to shed water as roughly 1lb or carbs stored also stores around 5lbs of water in the muscle cells...thanx

I don't know what blood tests they did on you, but I'm not convinced that you don't have hyperthyroidism because I haven't seen the results. With hyperthyroidism, your thyroid basically ramps up your metabolism. I had to just brush up on this again real quick, but hyperthyroidism causes the release of thyroid hormone. This will increase your blood sugar levels. If your blood sugar levels are too high for a long period, your cells are become resistant to the intake of sugar, or insulin resistant.

So you'll mimic having type II diabetes in a lot of ways.

If your thyroid works normally, your demographic does not fit a person at risk for diabetes. If you get lots of exercise, eat well, and are young, you should not be at risk for diabetes. The main risk factor for diabetes is obesity, and you don't fit that category. Your symptoms sound like classic hyperthyroidism.
