nobody in here said its the most important workout for a boxer. it doesnt make or break a boxer. but it definitely helps. and if you disagree then you disagree with all the pro's that do use it and that have trainers telling them to do it. and for some reason i think they know a bit more about it than you do, no offense.
In fairness, Kostya Tszyu does some interesting unorthodox stuff when he trains. Stuff that most trainers probably wouldn't bother with. (not saying its good or bad, I like Tszyu and I like his creative training).

I think some trainers may impliment this device just to have a bit of fun with their guys too. Its fun to watch fighters try an exercise that they don't have 1000 hours of training into.

you get basically the same hand eye with a double ended bag and you don't have to throw your punches at a guys knees. I'll take the double ended bag over the tennis ball everyday of the week............Rockin'

not bad, you're throwing good straight shots with a descent hook, just turn the hook over and you'll find more power. also, you move your head ok (though it could be quicker and tighter) but you'll go in throwing your combinations, finish throwing and then do nothing. you know that most guys throw as soon as you finish throwing your shots, that's when head movement has to happen. just do something defensive when you finish throwing, roll the shot with a shoulder, duck under, move the head....... and everybody knows that when you make them miss you are to make them pay, so throw punches off of your defensive moves. being able to work inbetween your opponents rythme is a great power in the ring.........Rockin'

you dont have to throw punches at your knees, i dont know why you keep bringing that up. you can punch eye level if you chose to, thats up to you. its a good hand/eye coordination workout and it improves your defense, because you have to keep moving, you can do this for like half an hour and because of that you will learn how to move and what to do after throwing punches, like head movement, footwork and so on. its like a mixture of shadow boxing, pad work and double end bag

Just because a pro does it doesnt make it a good exercise to do. Tszyu was good BEFORE he did that ****** exercise not because he did it.

um who said this excercise made him that good? you think the only reason why ali was the greatest was the heavy bag?

most the people i see use this are really ****ty at it.

most the time they are punching straight down or almost straight down, they barely ever move, they only ever use head movement when they miss, and you never see them throwing hooks or uppercuts.

even when Kostya Tszyu does it hes punching at his knees.

im starting to think you cant box properly with this.

a double end bag would be much better.

even a tennis ball hanging by a string from the ceiling so its at eye lvl or chin height would be better.

Flloyd Mayweather was filmed eating fried chicken and chips numerous times on the 24/7 episodes in the weeks coming up to the biggest boxing fight of the year, just because he didn't have to lose weight...
