I got mine on ebay for $22. They're also at your normal sporting goods stores, as well as the big chain stores like Wal-Mart.

Easiest and cheapest way is to use tape and make 1 x1 foot squares on the floor. Look at academy, amazon, ebay any sporting goods store should have one look in the football or training section. As far as do they work, I've mentioned before my coach is a former 2x world champion and he has used it plenty of times in training camp. I can attest it is best done as a warm-up or end of training cool-down. It does make you quicker on your toes, because it is basically a form of plyometric exercise. Builds explosiveness, just remember to go as fast as possible while keeping very strict form to achieve the best results.

It won't make you a better fighter. It won't do what you need to do...that is, coordinate your hands with your feet.

Looks pretty pointless to me. When would I ever want to bring my feet together like that in the ring?

There is nothing there that will make you a better fighter, nothing at all. The key to boxing footwork is maintaining the proper distance- where you are on balance and can punch- at all times, and coordinating your hands and feet. That will make you better at hopscotch, running with a football, maybe a bunch of other things, but not boxing.
If you are starting out and wanting to get better, at boxing, don't waste your time with that.

There's a lot more you can do with these besides these basic footwork drills, but its not for boxing. Its Excellent for football/basketball/strength/coordination training.

the exercise should definitely help you coordinate your feet better which is why it's useful for something like football, and so it should help for boxing

not saying it's an essential tool but it's still a tool

All styles of boxers can benefit from better footwork. The agility ladder generally benefits the following skills when practiced consistently:

                      Overall coordination
                      Balance
                      Foot quickness/precision
                      Body control

As you continue to work with the ladder, your reaction time and ability to change directions quickly will greatly improve. As a result, you will be able to bounce around the ring with more fluidity.
