Hello all my name is Patrick and i just joined the forum, hoping to get your opinions on my thoughts and perhabs give me some good advice ?
A little info
I'm 19 years old and i just started at boxning, i've been training/sparing for about 2-3 mounths, 3 times a week for 2 hours.
i weight about 70k (155lbs)
and when i aint at the boxing gym, i use most of my time, practicing at home. bottom line is i LOVE the sport.
My view on boxing
boxing is a sport where you want to hit and get out of the way,
if you master this you have the potential of a world champion.
ofcourse there is ALOT more to it then that, but i leave that out for now.
My abilitys & downsides
I'm very stubborn, and once i get a idea planted into my head i can't get it out, unless someone pokes hole in that idea for me.
So i've been practicing 3 things for hours every day for 3 mounths
Jab - Footwork - 1-2 combo
i belive my jab & 1-2 combo is close to what i call perfect,
My jabs is so fast and so precise that if you blink, you wont see it comming and your head will be snapped back with your nose faceing the cealing,
Power, Speed, Precision, Snap
my jab got it,
I'm sorry i had to tell it to you this way, but now you see how confident i feel about my apoach to boxing. now to the downside.

Problem Number one
My guard is ALWAYS down (left hand around waist, Right hand around chin, and my trainer yells to me "KEEP THEM UP!"
and im screaming INSIDE my head "WHY HE CAN'T HIT ME"
example 1
the reason he can't hit me is because i'm always a few inches out of reach, while im "dancing" around him, sticking him with my jabs and when he blinks i strike, and get back to my comfort zone before he realises what hit him.
example 2
I can't throw my jab with the same speed and snap when i got my guard is up.
when my "Guard" is up, My reach is way to short and i feel crippled, and out of balance when i throw a jab with the same speed and power im used to,
i just dont see the point, when im not getting hit in the first place.
example 3
When i got my guards up i feel like im like a slow zombie telegraphing every move i make, and i feel i lose all the footwork, i cant "dance" around him with both my guards up, i NEED my arms to be in balance

Problem number 2
Lets face it, Im 19 years old and I DONT KNOW **** ABOUT BOXING
i've only been boxing for a few mounths i feel like im disrespecting my trainer and the sport,
by not listening to him, by not boxing the way he wants me to box,
cos after all HE got the most experience, and HE knows whats best.
he got so much more knowlage in the sport then me,
and that is a fact.
But deep inside i just feel that, everything he makes me do is wrong, and i dont feel in balance.
and i feel the way im boxing now, is the only way to box correctly (FOR ME!)
(ofcourse i'm not saying i box perfectly cos i can see alot of mistakes flaws and errors when i do diffrent things in the ring.
but most importantly i can feel it, but im new and i got alot more to learn.

Problem Number 3
After 1 hour of warmup we start sparring, and the whole sparring session is the problem for me, cos i dont want to hurt my sparring partner,
i feel like im really holding back.
when i see a opening, for my Hooks/uppercuts
i NEVER throw them cos they hurt way to much.
and that is a problem for me cos i never get to practice hitting with my Hooks/uppercuts or power shots,
and i caught my self in APOLEGIZING to my sparring partner that i hit him with a clean left hook (50% power) and when i was on my way home i was thinking of the sparring match, (did i just apolegise for hitting him in a boxing match) ?
So my questions are
1) Should i keep boxing the way i want to, the way i feel is right ?
or should i do everything my trainer tells me ? (keeping my guards up at all times)
2) how do i tell my trainer that im not disrespecting him, when im not doing what he says ?
3) I know im thinking to much of my self, but is it something i should change ?
4) What should i do about the sparring matches, i want to learn EVERYTHING
but how can i learn powershots if i dont allow my self to throw them ?
5) What do you think of my views on boxing ?
6) Do you think i can be anything in the boxing world based on what you read?
7)
positive and negative
p.s sorry for my spelling errors
