I have a guy who is 51 and just won the masters at his age and weight class. You can definitely box into your 30's, 40's and even 50's if you keep in good enough shape.

Its never a good idea to accept concussions at any age but as you age your recovery time for any injuries will take longer and can become perminent problems. Sparring can be controlled as far as power being thrown but in open competition you are in some harms way as you get older and those are the facts. I believe in responsible match making on ANY level so if you have confidense that your evenly matched thats the best starting senerio you can ask for. Its not to say damage is under control but starting with evenly matched talents is what good competition is all about. good luck. Ray

thanks for yall input, appreciate it.
I think im gonna keep training and competing even as I get older, definitely past my 30's. There's a certain way I feel when im by myself and in public when im in "fight shape", and sparring as I get ready for matches/tournaments. It's also a needed distraction away from all the other things going on in life that can easily make me go insane.Last edited by Journeyman; 04-02-2012, 03:13 PM.
