  • Boxing into the 30's...

Im in my late 20's and still love to train, spar and fight. I have had some major distractions in my young life that kept me from competing steadily and building up any kind of solid amateur career.

We all know boxing is a young man's game but what are your opinions on boxing competitively at the amateur level into the 30+ year old range?

My goal is not to become the p4p best professional fighter in the world but to stay sharp, train consisently to stay in shape and out of trouble, and build on this personal self-discovering journey of mine that is amateur boxing.

I can't say much about boxing as an amateur and everything at that age, but you could look into white collar boxing - from what I know about it, it sounds like it could be for you if your just looking to stay and shape and everything.

Here's a link if you wanna have a look, hope its of some use http://www.wwcba.org/whitecollar.html

      Good luck though man.

Rockin' you seem like a good guy, but you seriously need to let this go. You said to Reed in the other thread, where you posted a reply like this, that it wasn't bothering you, so why keep bringing it up? Just let it go, man.

I was throwing it out there to the guy as I felt it may help. Sorry, I forgot I need to have laced 'em up to offer a little advice. I might not have fought pro, but I'm currently training to try and get into it (Edit. Training to fight am, not pro, just re-read and saw how it sounded), and haven't disrespected you, so I don't see why your trying to start and arguement with me.

          Whatever, man.

You're right, that was uncalled for. After the shelling that I've taken today I came at you all sideways. My sincere apologies......Rockin'

No worries, man. You've made a lot of good contributions to the T&N section here, and I think this whole arguement has gone on too long. I think you need to let it drop and go back to doing your thing. Although, I can see why its hard to do when people are throwing insults at you all the time.

At the end of the day, you know what you've done better than anyone here does.

I just don't see a point in contributing in here anymore, just spinning my wheels and giving away what I learned. It used to feel good to help somebody out but after the shelling I've been taking I just don't care to contribute in here any more. It is what it is.........Rockin'

I think it's cool .I've been training at my local boxing gym a couple of years now ( my great uncle founded ) http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hum...2193&cat=boxer Tbh man similar to you only not fought yet . I could have fought by now but i've got bulls--t going on as well .I'm 29 and the trainer said you can fight till your 34 in the amateurs .I've got major distractions as well mate and that's not talking lightly . My goal is a few fight man and i'd be happy .I feel at this stage I just need a good few days in a gym sparring and that man i'd be ready .I don't think it will have a major affect in your 30's just eat less and train harder I think and watch your weight .
