you lean forward with the jab in order to allow your opponent to uppercut the hell outta you. coz you're nice like that...

it's also going to shove a lot of the weight onto your front foot (also bear in mind that the head is actually a pretty heavy part of the body so moving it ahead of the centre of gravity will affect your centre of gravity), reducing mobility and balance and brings your head closer into your opponent's range in general. no genuine need for it that i can think of.

I step into my jab but I don't lean with it. Puts your chin out and a guy who knows what they're doing is going to counter you. Right hand over the top and easy uppercut for them to land. You can throw the jab alot of different ways, but idk about leaning into it. Throws off your balance and I tend to square up when I lose my balance, making me more vulnerable to counters.

I think the verbage here is incorrect, instead of the word "lean" it should be a slight bend in the waist forward. Thats maintained as you step with your jab and again shaddowing in the mirror is a great way to check your technique in regards to "showing" your jab (to early) by lifting your elbow or dropping your head. These are bad habits that sometimes people don't even know there doing. Use the mirror to identify your faults then correct them. Bend in the waist slightly so that when you sit down to punch harder your balance is correct. Ray.

the only punch where the balance stays unchanged right?

so when u hit a heavy bag you should not let the impact shift your weight back I guess.
