  • Eat, Before Cardio.

I always read that you hit cardio first thing in the AM before, eating am I wrong? if this is right can you explain, why we should do this. I have decide to do some high intense cardio In the AM should I have a shake, or anything before or just go at it? Any suggestions.

The idea is you do it on an empty stomach so your body uses fat reserves for energy. I run at night, I find I lose weight just as quick.

It's not always beneficial to do cardio on an empty stomach. Even getting 10-20 grams of protein in before your cardio will stop your performance being hampered by that energy-sapping feeling of hunger. The protein will give your body just the right amount of fuel for you to continue training.

In saying that, I'll have a bowl of porridge oats an hour or so before training just so I have a steady supply of carbs to burn along the way incase my workouts last longer than expected.

Running on an empty stomach is a bad idea. Your body need fuel for long distances. I eat a banana with half a bagel and peanut butter.

your body will strip out muscle if you dont eat... the weight loss is the muscle thats being burned. The immediate weight loss is the water thats in your body. Better to do interval training rather than long cardio.

I run most mornings on an empty stomach for a couple reasons:

              - body will burn more fat calories as your body is depleted of glycogen
              - I find cardio harder with no carbs / food, so good to get the body used to harder cardio work
              - when you do eat after cardio (within an hour), your metabolism is gonna be way up

I have a 25g protein shake (0 sugar), and drink half before & half after, just to try and protect muscle, maybe half a cup of black coffee if i feel i need the boost.

Fitnesscoffeeusa.com is a good one for athletes.

Best to have a protein shake before and after...

The idea of morning cardio is because that is when your testosterone levels are at their highest (they taper down) & your GH & hormone levels are high etc meaning your body is more anabolic.

There is only one food which best before the cardio that is Liquid food.
The use of the fresh juices is really helpful to get the good results.
