And lol at you taking a straight haymaker from a heavyweight. Any heavyweight boxer with basic skills would atleast knock you down with a haymaker if you jut stood there and took it.

TS, just because Jack Dempsey chewed gum to strengthen his jaw does not necessarily mean it will work for you. The ability to absorb pucnhes better depend on the strength of your neck, t****zius and yes your legs too. Wrestler's bridge, shrugs and squats will be more beneficial than chewing gum.

I don't think it will help much. That is something like an old wives tale.
Even if it did help. It'd probably be something like a 3% increase in punch resistance if we could measure that sorta thing.

I think it helps a little flicker, i mean chewing all day would strengthen your jaw muscles, thus help when you're punched.
I mean if George Chuvalo did it, i think i can do it too. He had one of the greatest chins of all time.

It's not the strength of your jaw that prevents knock outs, it's your JC (jaw coordination). That's why guys like delahoya always moving their jaws around before fights gettin' it ready. Instead of chewing or lifting weights with your mouth you should focus on the jaw's coordination by doing exercises for its dexterity. Start by tying your shoe laces with your teeth and move up to tying knots in cherry stems. I don't necessarily recommend blowing dudes, but my coach said it's really useful so I've made it part of my routine.
