  • Chewing gum to increase punch resistance.?

Its a weird little new workout that Ive added to my training routine. I have noticed my jaw is visibly way stronger and that i can take punches way better without even being prepared for them. I asked a HW at my gym to hit me clean with a haymaker to the jaw and I just stood there all the way thru the punch easy. I feel like my face is so strong and powerful. I'm chewing about 10 pieces per day now.

Has anyone else tried this?? And am i the only one crazy enough to think of this training technique?

Your jaw must have been weak as **** if chewing gum feels like a workout to you.

And lol at you taking a straight haymaker from a heavyweight. Any heavyweight boxer with basic skills would atleast knock you down with a haymaker if you jut stood there and took it.

Seems like an obvious joke thread, but if you're somehow being sincere:

Chewing gum has no effect on punch resistance. It strengthens your jaw, but the jaw has nothing to do with the knockout mechanism in the brain. Neck/trap muscles have more to do with that, and even then the density and thickness of the skull and shoulder girdle play more of a role in punch resistance (as does genetics).

Obviously this is great proof that chewing gum gives you the ability to absorb punches better.

This section has turned into a joke man...

If you want to increase punch resistance you should strengthen your neck...not your jaw muscles.

dempsey used to chew cedar and spruce resin to make his jaw stronger

beef jerky would probably also help more then just normal chewing gum

              Yes.

Even the thought of comprehending the OP with any kind of common sense is absolutely absurd.

That is a great idea for wrist stamina/strength and endurance. It would work best though if you were chewing 10 pieces of gum while wanking, just incase your hand slips off and cracks you in the chin. Don't want to knock yourself out while wanking or mom might catch you with your pants on your ankles.
