    About protein shakes.

    Since protein is very hard to assimilate and puts a lot of stress on your liver and kidneys; How many protein shakes should i limit myself to each day?

    If you can put yr answer in the form of X grams protein per day then that's good.

    you should have at least 1 gram of protein to every 2 kg of fat (e.g a 60kg man should have at least 30g of protein a day).

      What? hahaha! So a bodybuilder/very lean guy should only be consuming approx 10g of protein per day?

          Astounding post.

          It depends what you are trying to achieve body composition wise. You should be aiming for at least one gram of protein for every pound of lean body mass. For instance, adopting the example above, a 60kg man that is fairly lean should be aiming for at least 120-130 grams of protein per day. Eating 30g per day would constitute a seriously protein-deficient diet. If that individual was trying to add mass, he would need to aim to consume over 180-190 grams of protein on a daily basis (approx. 1.5 grams per pound of mass).

          It doesn't matter where you get your protein from but I prefer whole foods. I basically only use protein powder to make PROATS however I will throw a shake in after dinner if I am not going to hit my target. It basically comes down to whether you like eating or not. If you are trying to add mass and don't have a great appetite, shakes are a great way to hit targets without having to consume. I love eating, and would far rather eat something like meat, eggs or a serving of PROATS as opposed to drinking a shake. All personal preference. Just do whatever you like to hit your target.

            If BMI > 34 then .75 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight(assuming you are not professional bodybuilder but just rather fat). if BMI is < or= 34 then 1 gram per pound of bodyweight.

            Oh, and unless you have a kidney desease there is no real data that suggests that moderately high amounts of protein are hard on kidneys or liver.

                this is still wrong bro;

                as said above a good target range is 0.8g-1g protein per POUND of bodyweight, and there has been no studies to actually suggest protein is hard on the liver or kidneys.
                A good macro sample generally is 40/40/20 (proteins/carbs/fats) - but really it depends on the individuals goals and activity

                  Please stop attempting to give advice.

                  According to your rule myself, at 90kg, should be consuming 45 grams of protein per day. That is ridiculous. I set my minimum at 170. You have no clue about healthy diets and protein intake levels.

                  It is pretty annoying when someone asks for advice on a topic relating to nutrition (an area in which there is already a lot of misinformation around) and someone like you, with no clue whatsoever, provides them with advice. It is particularly bad in this case because your advice is ridiculous.
