What does hands being faster even mean? I'm new to boxing so if someone could explain! How can you not have your legs there in 1-2, hands being faster!? No leg speed? Poor technique (arm punches?)? It's just that the concept seems weird to me at least, especially doing 1-2.

It is weird and frankly it sounds completely ******ed. I ahve never ever heard anyone say that your legs should be as "fast" as your hands. WTF is that? are you supposed to kick your legs out at the same time or wtf are they talking about? It sound so ****ing ****** it makes my head spin.

according to my coach, when you throw a jab you're supposed to launch your arms the same time you take that front step, and when your foot lands the ground your arms are supposed to be straightened, and at the same time your hands should be gripped. if your arm is thrown first than your foot, that means your concentrating on throwing punches with your arms so you need to match your punches up with your footwork. and if your footwork is too slow, you just gotta match your "arm speed" with it. i know its pretty ******ed but maybe thats how it goes in japan :-/

oh and he thinks weaving, ducking, head slip or any defensive moves is unnecessary for me.

I had a hunch this could be it :/ What he is saying is actually true. This **** came very easily to me so haven't really thought about it. Seems overly complicated though. I personally think it as matching my feet and punches, not in terms of speed. As a side note lounging/jumping lead hook is hilarious, it's ridiculous even if you miss it but even more if you hit. Step forward+jab is a bit slower than a jab but I'm not overly concerned about speed because at the lowest level speed don't mean **** unless you are extraordinary slow. Not sure what to say about his coaching, you should probably harass him or something. Personally I don't believe in that "you don't need that yet" stuff. Works better for me if someone just shows me **** and I pick it up there or don't and go work on it. Go train in an another gym and see whats what? He may have a point in trying to teach you the basics but see what suits you.

To further comment on the video I'd like to say your cross looks very bad, just a tap and the arm is not nearly straight :/ Though maybe you were just chillin or something, if you weren't don't worry it'll get better.

              wtf

that is the most important defense

also i think he is overthinking the jab thing

              go to another gym seriously
