how tall are you? I'm 190 and I would literally look deathly if I lost 40 lbs. Remember that more muscle = less body fat percentage

It matters how much muscle mass you have. If you have a lot then cut. If you don't have a lot bulk up and then cut.

the only differences will be taste, and how well it mixes in what ever you're using whether it be milk, water or fruit juice, sometimes stirring won't suffice, and you'll need a mixer bottle or a blender.

Lightweights (i presume higher reps) will bulk u up I believe, as they tear the muscle fibres more.
If u want to be ripped and compact u need strength training
It's all about diet really, if you train hard, what u eat will affect ur fat loss/muscle growth
