  • Protecting your hands and wrists

Guys I've tried a number of things to prevent my fragile little mitts from taking a beating but I can't get around it whenever I pick up the training intensity.
Can anybody with delicate hands reccomend anything?

im not quite sure what you mean by protect them, but if your hitting the bag to the point where your hands and wrists hurt and then you continue hitting the bag your never going to get any where, you need to stop as soon as your wrists and hands first start to feel pain if you dont want to stop trainng just shadow box....but do not hit anything any more if your wrists and hands are sore.

eventually by stopping just when you start to feel sore and before you injur your self your give your wrists and hands a chance to recover and get stronger and over time it wont be as much of an issue any more.

Wrap your hands properly and use good gloves?

Rest until they feel better, then wrap a sponge under your handwraps. A benefit to this is you can punch much harder without having to worry about hurting your knuckles.

Sponge over your knuckles and then good long handwraps over top. Hopefully you can get some decent gloves too. Don't need to spend hundreds on Winning, but something a little better than the $20 walmart ones.

A mistake alot of people make (even professionals imho) is to wrap too tight. If the wraps are very tight on the hands and particularly on the wrists it will restrict blood flow to the hands. This is a big cause of injury to the hands imo.

If you haven't been blessed with hands of stone, use bigger gloves when training even on focus mitts and don't throw with power...just focus on technique. Also after every session soak your hands in a bucket filled with ice water.

also if you've got a girl get her to massage your hands.....it will promote bloodflow.
