I hear you on the self motivation to keep going. I by no means want to give up, i just sometimes wonder to myself whether or not i'm gunna see any progress to keep me interested
Ya, my nose bled like it was on a constant period for about the first 6 months. If you stick with it those shots in the nose won't even phase you abit. Your eyes will stop watering up and you'll walk right through the shot.

Don't worry so much about you seeing your own progression. You do it every day and you will improve but you might not notice it. When you start sparring you will notice it more. Let your coach worry about seeing improvement, just get in there and follow his instruction and do your thing............Rockin'

anyone else got an opinion to throw at me? the more the merrier.

had a tough session tonight, the club has a show on at the end of March, so the coaches are really starting to run us into the floor on conditioning. really found it hard to make it through

i know this is a little bit of a necro, so i apologise.

My fitness level is continually rising and im noticing the improvements, which i said i wasnt sure of when i made this thread. The club has a show tomorrow night so it's gunna be a bit of an eye opener for me to watch how the people in our gym, who i thought were good, stand up to their opponents. We've also just put pen to paper on a move to a much larger space, probably 4 times as big, which we plan on moving to in June and to help deal with the extra space, signed another coach. So the gym is progressing nicely and i feel like i fit in.

I've just had a light sparring session with my friend who's been boxing for about 2 years and its the first time ive gone toe to toe since the rounds described in my original post. I really enjoyed it. He was giving me pointers all the time and it really helped. It did wonders for my confidence and i cant wait to do it again.

Just wanted to put down a little update and i might amend the title to my progress from day one

My advice for what it's worth is to fall in love with the heavy bag..Love that thing dream about it pretend god put pleasure glands in you knuckles and every time you impact them you get a little burst of bliss..Do all the stuff the trainer says but go back to that bag. And get good bag gloves and a gell pack for your wraps..Thin Gel packs are the best at evening out the knuckle surface area and distributing force evenly..I scavenged the gel from some light boxing glove/wrap things by ever last..Know I can pound away on that bag for hours and My wrist bones will start to ache before my knuckles do..And don't get suckered into sparing to soon getting hit in the face and losing can be really demoralizing..Love the Gym the routine and life then even when you get a downer you still wanna come back for more..At first Do what I call shadow sparing where you practice movement but don't connect punches..You kinda throw them in slow mo..But the foot work and set up are full speed..

What gym are you at Fergs ?

That's good of your friend to help you out. I would try and get as many rounds in with him as possible. Personally, I think its best to learn to spar against someone who know's what they are doing - as long as they don't take advantage.

                      A1 Dog & Gun.

Yeh well he wont go full out on me as im nowhere near ready for that but hopefully if we do it regularly, which we plan on doing, he can step it up a little bit over time and get me to where i wanna be.
