    The thing is not to lose weight to quickly because then you will also lose muscles and not only fat also if you have to strict a diet, like eating 1000 kcal less then you burn then your body will go into starvation mode and lose muscle only and try and preserve the fat for survival. You can lose 2 lbs a week but try not to lose more than that, if your 20-25 lbs overweight then you should get to your target weight in 10-12 weeks. Try to mainly cut back on the carbs in your diet, your muscles need protein.
