Getting ripped has nothing to do with what weights you do, it's to do with your body fat %, we all have muscles and if you have less fat between ur muscles and ur skin you will look ripped.
Let's say pacman is not on roids (I believe this)
He has decent strength and not really bulky, I'd assume he is doing isometrics, I.e. Building strength without bulk. And definately plyometrics for the power. His calorie intake would be monitored so he doesn't put too much weight/bulk on, but has enough to help recovery and training.
To summarise I reckon isometrics (heavy weights) and plyometrics are a BIG factor for pacquiao. Genetics may explain his leg muscles and the fast running he does.
I always find it interesting when people ask about strength in boxing cause at the end of the day conditioning, technique, power etc all matter but I really don't get why raw physical strength matters. In fact, what i'm saying is that in boxing it doesn't really.
Developing explosiveness and power is highly important but raw physical strength isn't really necessary.
And don't confuse a physique with someones physical attributes. Look at Fedor Emelianenko in mma, he looks quite out of shape and doesnt appear to have any standout athletic traits but he's fast, explosive, VERY technically skilled and has incredible strength.
IM pretty sure Manny lifts weights....its hard to get ripped like him doing pushs up and stuff.
i can tell u for a fact he doesnt, most boxers at the top level dont touch heavy weights and for good reason. roach said non of his fighters lift weights.
