  • My lower back is KILLING ME!

I have never had back problems before and im not sure where they came from

i can still do day to day routines but if i bend too far over i get a sharp quick pain.

its not from lifting because i havent done any dead lifts or squats lately.

i think i threw it out hitting the heavy bag or something

anyways i was wondering if any of you have a good remedy or maybe a way to diagnose what i did.

it feels like im leaning to the left all the time haha... that may sound crazy but it makes me feel like i have scoliosis or something

its annoying the piss out of me

You might be lifting boxes or bending over wrong straining your lower back. You gotta use your legs. Or else it could be due to ab work outs such as sit ups. A remedy would be to work out your back if you go to a fitness gym and stretch your back muscles. A personal trainer could show you how or you can find some stretching and back work out videos on youtube. I remember when I use to weight lift I'd never get back problems because I did the exercises in correct form.

When my sciatic nerve was bothering me The stretch in this video was the most helpful its the one where she is laying on her back and pulls one of her one of her knees across her body with and looks the other way with her arm outstretched. For your back problem there may be different stretches that help your back as your back problem may be different.

first thing is give it a rest first even if you can still do your daily routine.

some times the issue is that the hamstrings (muscles in the back of the leg) are tight and this causes the hip bone to be fixed in place at the bottom of its range of movement by stretching your hamstring the hip bone moves more and can assist in bending over taking pressure off the lower back. the video above probly worked because its a hamstring stretch, ill usually just put my heel on a step and then keeping my back straight strectch to touch my toes. my legs alittle bent when i do it and i usually hold it for 30 seconds.

then in the future try to bend more at the hip then the lower back.

try working out your back, boxing requires pretty good core strength, i do "back-ward sit ups" to work out my back. kind of like a sit up only back wards. you lie down face down with one bech at your hips and stick you legs underneath something so you dont flip over then put your hands behind your head and lift your torso up using your back. it really works it out

Big question, is it a sharp piercing pain? If so it could be a trauma injury( spinal injury or a muscular stain or pull).

Is it a tight throbbing pain? Could be an overuse injury.

One thing I've noticed in training boxers, is that while the abs tend to be strong, the lower back tends to be weak. Boxers spend a lot of time hunched over, and if you aren't doing any lower back exercises, you will have over developed abs and hip flexors which will pull against your lower back.

Volleyball players, especially women, seem to have the same problem for the same reasons.

My physiotherapist told me it's the muscles that are under core muscles that help lower back. You train them by doing exercises with medicine ball, throwing it at wall/floor etc

These muscles go all around your core however they are not the one working while doing crunches.
