well thats good for them but heres a guy that ran 26 miles every day for 50 days with a heel strike with out any kind of extreme it band issues knee problems ect.

if the heel strike is what causes the issue how can this guy run with a heel strike and not have an issue?

The common issue with heel strikers is not having the right type of support/cushioning, or not enough support/cushioning for that individual's foot type/gait. Of course you can still run for a long period of time if you have the correct "compensation" (or should i say, "band aid") for your feet. Some may have too much support/cushioning, or too little. This is all in reference to the traditional running shoe method.

When it comes to the traditional method of finding the right running shoes, yeah.

I just believe that pretty much everyone can benefit with the minimalist approach, especially when avoiding hard surfaces.

i heavily doubt that guy has been without injury all of his years of running. Every runner has injuries if they run long enough through there life

                especially on concrete.

there have been scientific studies showing that more cushion in a heel leads to more force on joints and muscles.

                its not speculation.

of course there will be people who can run marathons running the heel-toe way but running on the midfoot is still the best way to run and also the safest way to run

i can say so from my own personal account from practicing with minimalist shoes.

i have played sports all my life, primarily soccer. Always had shin splint problems, knee problems, hip problems, and some minor little injuries. But ever since i started training running primarily on the midfoot with a minimalist shoe i havent had any of these problems. Even running on concrete which i have always tried to minimalize

So do you minimalist users use those only for running or for boxing as well?

                  Do you mostly use Vibrams?

                      i do actually

                      why?

because when you box your want to stay light on your feet right?

also boxing shoes usually have minimal to zero midsole so you usually boxing on the balls of your feet

what better way to train for that than running virtually barefoot to strength your feet and calves???
