    Damn...

So some of you might know that I recently moved to Toronto in Canada.. anyways, one thing that is making me stressed is that I can't join a boxing gym because it's so far, and taking the public transit is very expensive and over an hour (the closest gym). I can't afford to take the train and buses everyday, plus it's such a long ride. On the other hand, riding with a car to the gym, it's about 15 mins (according to the google maps). So I have to wait until I get my license or my dad buys a car so I can drive there...

My trainer in NY told me that I should continue because I might go far. I have less than 2 years in training and I'm 17 years old, will be 18 in a month.

The point of this thread is what should I do? Most likely I won't be taking the trains and buses everyday, not because it's so far because I took the train in NY for one hour to get to my gym, but it's too expensive for me to take the public transit everyday. I feel like I'll be so old until I can actually start again. It will probably take me like 8 months or less until I actually go to that gym but it just bothers me that I'll be older.

I thought the best thing I could do is just run everyday (which I do) and be in good shape so when I get to the gym, I don't have to spend time to get in shape and instead focus in boxing skills.

Sorry, this thread is a little odd but I just wanted to share that and get some people's thoughts. Will I be too old? I first started when I was 16, spent almost two years in the boxing gym, trained everyday and all...

I was in the same situation, I trained at Gleasons in Brooklyn about 2-3 yrs ago had to stop due to expenses. It was very expensive to go from Jersey to NY, take the subway to Brookyln and back. Had to eat either on my way or the way back. Plus the gym membership.

Your best bet is to find the cheapest way to get there or get a job somewhere close to the gym so it evens out. If you want to continue that's the best thing you can do.

if it takes 15 min to get there in a car u should just ride a bike there if u have one, it'd probably only take like an hour or so.

Yeah man, I think I got to find a job and maybe buy a cheap car somewhere. I feel like I'm losing so much time right now.

I got the 15 mins on Google maps so I'm assuming it's in the highway and I can't ride a bike in the highway. I didn't even think about the bike though. Will see.

                    Hi,

I was in Toronto in July and I love the down town. I understand your problem. The transit is really expensive and I hate the token system. I had the luck that i knew someone there who drove me to the boxing gym. I lived near the King's Road if you know where this is. I trained 8 minutes further (with the car) from the place I lived. The place was called Variety Village. I don't really know where Etobicoke is and I don't know if I helped you, but I wish you much luck on searching for a good gym and making a carreer as a boxer.

                    Peace,

                    Reem
