you can work weights into your routine and benefit from it, however its a thin line between slight improvement and huge decline. too much weight lifting or the wrong type of weight lifting will work against u, it will make u slower, less agile, punch weaker, lose stamina and could make it hard to make weight. and like mentioned its a thin line between benefitting from weights and taking it too far.

if u have a trainer who has great experience in the field then by all means do the few exercises, but alot of ppl dont have that. also as an amateur (which most people here are) weights benefit u even less. amateur boxing is all about speed, even more so than pro boxing which is also all about speed. guys rarely try to hurt u in amateur boxing because of the scoring criteria, they try to throw lots of quick punches and get their points. u face a few guys early on who do alot of strenght work and come in trying to fight like jake lamotta, and they get outpointed every fight.

i use a neck harness, do squats and sometimes this exercise for my back that i dont know what its called. thats it. u have to be careful not to lift too much or do the wrong type of exercises. doing bench press and arm exercises will only work against u, u are putting weight on places that dont add to your punch or your punch resistance which will only make u punch weaker, slower and have less stamina since its more muscle to move around that dont contribute to anything.

no, i lie on my stomach on a elevated bench. pulling the weight up to my chest, targets almost the same muscles as pull ups. i just use it sometimes to switch things up a bit and keep the body guessing.

1.3 miles? yeah to be a good boxer you will have to jog at least 20 miles a week.

well see long distances allow you to recover faster. reguardless of how long the matches are and how many you have you still need to recover between rounds. some one who does long distances will be at the same point at the beginning of the second and thrid round as they were at the beginning of the first, in fact some one who does long distances is probly going to have an even better 2nd and 3rd round then first as his opponet slowly gets worse.

You are wrong...cardio can be encanced in so much better ways than running.Ex. circle training with low weights and adding burpies. So much better than running. You can't be judge of some things you didn't try.As for recovery between rounds...i didn't have any problems in my 3 bouts.

Circle training? that where you do 3 mins here 3 mins there 3 mins here ect?

worthless. hell if your going to use weights you might as well use them to train for what you want instead of lets see how many times i can do this in 3 mins.

and burpies are ****** too, any thing resembling a push up is worth less and only an exercise so some trainer can give you something to occupie your self for half an hour because he dosnt feel like actually training you.

when, when in boxing do you need giant chest muscles to supanate the sternum? you dont. if anything it restricts your range of motion in the shoulder decreasing the range of your punches and the power behind them.

i bet you take boxing at an mma gym eh? good luck with that and your sub par opposition.
