      I don't agree with you, give us a link to that study.You can't have power without speed.Working on heavy bag will only help u with these two aspects.Hit it fast for gaining combination speed, and hit it hard for power...simple as that.Heavy bag, next to the mitts is an ultimate boxer's tool.

        and it has nothing to do with absorbing shock which increases growth

        mabey if youve been using the heavy bag for a long time , you muscle mass may have incrased from using your muscles more and focing them to grow ect,
        but if youve just started using it , its probably phychological
