I'm not talking about breathing. I breath out when I punch but not in a loud manner. Making any sort of loud noise when you punch actually helps your opponent time your punches and spot your feints.

Like a few others in this topic, I also let out a "hiss" when throwing punches.

Anyone else have trouble breathing out when they have a mouthguard in? When Im just training I'll usually make a "shoo" noise every time I punch, but when Im sparring Im usually just silent because of the mouthguard (unless I want to spit all over the other guy) or I'll make a gay grunting noise.

Does your mouthguard have an air vent at the front? If not i suggest getting one as they are easier to breath with.

I get really riled up when training or fighting, so I make a lot of sounds when I punch. With my jabs I make the usual "Shi" noise, but when I use any punch that has damage I usually make a grunt or a "Ngh" sound.

But if I do a punch that I know for certian that my opponent can't block or take, I'll usually say something. Like if he's seriously out of it, I'll say something like a taunt, followed by the haymaker that sends them to the floor. Really makes you feel good when you land a finisher like that.

                SWEET DREAMS! *POW!*

It's good for breathing but the screamers really piss me off. One guy at my gym the other day was literally tapping the bag and screaming his head off. His shoulders etc might of been aching but it was just ******ly loud.....lame attention seeking

Wait, tapping like really light, or really fast?

I can understand why he would be screaming if he's doing it really fast, but if he's doing light punches then he must be ******.

Why do you think it's a bad habit to let air out?

I guess you should'nt do like those Karate kids who yell HAI! before they chop.
