If you don't you will be at a heavier weight and you will be fighting naturally bigger guys, because people eat healthily so they can fight at a lower weight... so if you just eat whatever crap you want theres a good chance you will always be matched against guys who are stronger at the weight than you, if you eat healthily it helps to stop it, you will have guys stronger than others but still.
Plus, when eating the right foods you get the right nutrition for when you fight, you could compete whilst eating whatever you want but you will probably find it easier when eating healthily... nobody expects you to live like a monk but its still a good idea to eat healthy and treat yourself every now and then. And believe me, when you've gone without chocolate for a while you don't need it anywhere near as much, cause your not used to having anything as sweet you don't really want it as much anyway.
