Bruce Lee use to use an 8×11 peace of cardboard hung from the ceiling for striking practice. I supper glued a penny to the exact center of mine to practice precision, you can feel the penny when you strike it so you can tell if your aim is even a little bit off. Focus on punching the penny through the paper (literally) it will push you to hit harder, and help increase your power too.

I haven't tried this one, but I've thought about cutting an opening into an old basketball and filling it with concrete, then wrapping it with duct tape or something once it's cured for a homemade medicine ball.

That would be called a boulder, not a medicine ball.

Here's a little something I posted on another forum.

Had this idea of using an L bracket and ratchet straps to hold a speed bag platform, so I decided to give it a spin. Hours of fun in the sun and some fresh air.

1.5" solid table top from my job - free
2 heavy L brackets from Home Depot - $6.00 each
        1 4" ratchet strap - $8.00

You can use a slab of beef instead of a heavy bag Rocky style.

Of course a full cow carcass cost around $4000 these days.

I say skip the side of beef. After I saw Rocky, I thought id get a few shots in on a hanging side. Those ribs hurt! Make sure you go boneless.

Do u think staples might work? I tried the duck tape but the volley ball just flew away. ..

                Maybe crazy glue?

I think the volley ball would work a little better, it should be actually a little smaller

I made one of these out of a basketball filled with sand, I had to use some kind of shoe glue to seal the hole back up then wrapped it in duct tape. it works pretty good, I've even thrown it against a cement wall

I've seen one of the gyms in cuba where amateurs train, they didn't even have real heavy bags they were punching old tires hanging from chains

For a speed bag like trainer, hang a shoelace from the ceiling. Ive used this for years.

For precise punching and hand conditioning, get a sack of HImilayian Rice, they come in a burlap zippered sack. Now, take a tough plastic bag and phil it up with different dried beans and peas, put it in the sack (take the rice out first) until the bag has just a little bit of give. Now take a belt and tie off the bag against a post, or have someone hold it. Don't use rice its too soft, the beans are perfect, you want to hit the bag so that it transfers into the bag and a little bit through the bag...you don't want to push the bag, or snap at the bag with the punch.

You will develop a very strong accurate punch this way, but be careful! Its not boxing training and even if you love tap someone properly in the right place you can crack bones...I speak from experience. One of the moments in my life I wish I could take back. I was teaching a class and going over a move where you gently rock in and snap off a hit to the ribs...I had this big guy who I caught perfectly. he went down. I had hit him so lightly I remember saying "Oh come on Leslie up and about lets not be a baby!" I had fractured about 3 ribs. I mean love tap...I was always careful and gentle.

I developed these training items for myself and they work well.
