Originally posted by cuauhtemoc1496 View PostOk here's the story, I'm training this young kid, he's 16 and I have been training him for about 8 months. He had his first Amateur fight last weekend here in Miami and we won by 2nd round stoppage.
The kid has nothing, he lives in a very, very bad part of Miami. So bad that the first 3 times I picked him up at his house, I got pulled over for being in that neighborhood.
He has exceptional talent, he's fast, strong and could have a serious future in the sport if given the chance. His mother died and his father really isn't around much so he looks to me as a big brother type.
His B-day is coming up and I was wondering if you guys could recommend a nice little gift package from Titleboxing.com that I can give him. A gym bag, gloves, mouth piece, wraps, jump rope and maybe shoes.
Let me know what's best for the money, something not to expensive because I'm not rich either.
I will post some vidoes of him fighting or training so you can see the kid.
Thanks.

Just anything will do imho. Basically what you're doing is the best you can do for him at this time. Make sure you talk to him and let him know how dirty this business is and warn him about other trainers will try to steal him from you. Props for doing what you're doing but dont be surprised if he ends up at another gym down the road.Last edited by Del Coqui; 05-17-2010, 03:54 PM.

as a kid that also comes from nothing, I believe he would treasure anything you would give him. Gloves are great becuase you get to use them all the time and you get that sense that someone believes in you and supports you and they'll be treasured as their first pair of boxing gloves.
Trunks are great to becuase you feel a sense of pride in wearing them, especially if your coach bought you some.
my gym doesn't have much so my coach gave me a pair of boxing gloves and his old trunks and I am honoured to wear them into my fightsLast edited by Marlin26; 05-17-2010, 11:53 PM.
