  • Best way to gain weight?

Hello im 23 years old and I've weighed the same weight since the age of 16. My metabolism doesnt appear to be slowing down at all.

no matter how much I eat I can never even gain a few pounds! im not looking for anything drastic, maybe just a small routine to help me gain 5-10 pounds to start off with. I dont take any supplements or protein shakes or anything like that, and I work out a couple of times a week lifting weights, stepping machine, and running.

I weigh about 128 pounds and im 5'11 or 5'12 in height.

any advice would be much appreciated.

even if you dont change how you eat unless your eating like 0 protein youll gain atleast 15-20lbs if your lifting properly. i gained around that in my first 4-5 months of lifting weights with no change in how i ate or taking any supplements. i weighed about 125@ 19years. i was never big on eating either but my body naturally built up that muscle from lifting properly and using whatever protein i fed it. you need to make sure your getting atleast 1g-1.5g per lb of body weight. taking a pre and post whey protein drink would help to increase your gains on muscle if you want to go that route. good carbs and veggies

I would say protein shakes - have one last thing before you go to bed. It feels sort of yucky to go to be on a full stomach, but it forces you to get in the good protien all day long. Keep a protein bar or PB sandwich next to your bed -set an alarm to wake up at a mid point in your sleep cycle - eat or drink your calories then roll over and go back to sleep. Also some software like The daily Plate which is part of the livestrong website can help you track calories and has an option for how much you need to eat during the day.

                  Tell us your diet.

If you don't have a regular diet, take a note of what you ate today and the calories per serving, as well as the amount of protein, carbs, sugars and fat. This information should be on the packet.

How much time do you spend lifting weights, and how time much running/other cardio?
