    ^^that's a good tip

Without a long reach the jab can be difficult to land at the beggining, but easy to land as you finish your combination on an opponent. It's ussualy best to end the combo with your lead hand so you can get out of there faster and unharmed so after throwing some shots to the body stick that jab in his face and get out. It might not be very powerful but you can get a clean hit.

Some of the shorter dudes I end up sparring with place a lot of power behind it as they step in. It's a good way to throw the opponent off balance, if he's taller and not having a good stance. Pretty effective even if you aim for his gloves.

Im a short, stocky southpaw similar to yourself, with a decent amatuer record. As a rule i aim for the upper chest. Since im normally the one pressing forward and throwing a lot, making people move backwards this seems to work best for me. Sometimes you just want to smash someones face in though, then both the jab and the left aim for the nose.

The forehead because, as the head moves back, he's completely open for my right cross.

I have a great difficulty landing a jab to the head, i can land it to the body with ease, aswell as a 1-2 to the body. and loads of lead straight lefts to the head also, but i dont wanna be a one-trick pony. is there anything i can work on to improve my success rate with the jab upstairs?

edit: also my arm length is 23"
as short as you are, you should be doing exactly that, jabbing to the body to slip his jab and coming back upstairs. I would worry more about coming in and countering his jab than trying to make it a jabbing contest.

you need to step in a lot, keep your other hand ready to catch his own jab if he's taller than you and tries keeping you on the outside with it.

              I'd say throat.

But depends on your opponents movement.

Nose, eyes or jab to the liver.

Up and down, twice to the liver. The third time aim at the nose with a STIFF JAB.

Always the forehead, well at least for me.

depends on whats open and how big is the opponent.
