For me I just try and avoid three things, fat, salt and sugar.
sound's basic and it is, I also make sure to get a lot of protein, but if you just avoid the three things above, then your on a good track imo.Comment

Chino I'd say the basic rules are eat more often and smaller amounts as this speeds up your metabolism. Eat plently of fruit and vegetables, for getting your carbs eat wholemeal pastas and rices, for protein try tuna and chicken (low in fat) as well as Whey protein (cheaper alternative). Try and eat as much variance as you can when it comes to fruit and vegetables, try to stay away from pastries, cheeses (dairy products in general) and dough based foods as these are high in fat. Everything in moderation my friend, be sensible and I'm sure you'll get the desired results. If you're working out a lot, between 1-1.7grams of protein per KG you weigh is a good meausre, try not to eat carbs too late at night as these will be stored as fat. Hope this has been helpful.Comment

Take two people with the same metabolism. Put them on the same exercise regime. Tell one to eat ice cream, deep fried snickers bars, drink lots of coke. Tell the other to eat sensibly, stick to low fat meats like chicken and fish, replace coke with water etc. Which person makes better progress? More importantly, which person just feels healthier? We can guess.Comment

If you don't have time for a proper meal you can prepare a bag of nuts, seeds and dried fruit and take it with you in your gym bag. Nuts are high in useful fat and protein while fruits/seeds have fiber and carbs. It's a lot healthier than McDonalds and probably cheaper too.Comment

There's nothing wrong with eating fat (though obviously in moderation as with everything else), just make sure it's the right kind.
Nuts for example contain quite a bit of fat, but are good for you. Same can be said for salmon.
There are more calories in a gram of fat than a gram of protein or a gram of carbohydrate, but learning the difference between good and bad fats will help you to develop a healthier diet.Comment
