Am I too skinny to be worrying about loosing weight?

    Ok I'm 5'7 currently at 137

I know I'm not over weight, Im a small guy
however I'm not cut at all I have some definition
but no where were I wanna be.

The thing is everyone is saying I'm crazy for wanting
to loose more weight but I have to get rid of this little gut
and so far it's working but I wanna make sure I'm
    taking the right approach.

    Thanks

you would be better off doing some strength training, it burns calories and will lead to improved muscle tone. try http://www.stronglifts.com

the nature of strength trainign means you won't have to put on weight necessarily, so it would be fine for you to stay in your current weight class if that is your choice

I'm 5'8 and 126, and dont look skinny at all. You should just try to exercise as much as you can, do alot of cardio. You'll get in shape eventually. When you feel good enough, then thats the weight you should be at

you dont wanna lose too much weight but you have an ideal height for your weight class, i dont see why you couldnt cut down to 130, but if youre boxing at a gym and plan on competing, then they will probably have you cut down to 130 anyways if they think it's necessary, so if it's for boxing i wouldnt worry about losing weight right now but like the other dude said do strength training w/ a lil cardio, and not necessarily weight lifting either, i think thatd be your best bet, but if you dont like weights use your bodyweight exercises like pushups, situps, dips, twist-situps, pullups, chinups, wall squats, calf raises.. **** like that

if you were cut at 137 you'd probably fairly muscular. You say you are skinny though, which means you probably have skinny arms but a soft midsection.

            just work hard

seriously how can you not look skinny? you must be inflated with air or summin.

I'm 5'6 and it kills me to cut below 155, when I box at 140 I'm ripped and kinda skinny lookin.. but ur taller than me and weigh a **** ton less :s

if u are competing u shouldnt be worried about how u look, worry about how u perform. if u are a naturally slim guy then be slim, bulking up wont benefit u. do boxing training focusing on improving speed, strenght and stamina. just focus on getting better and find out which weight u are most comfortable at, if u happen to be just a pound or two over a certain division u might aswell drop it, if not stay where u are at.

most of the time i see someone get KOd in the amateurs its bcuz they wanna be mike tyson and look like a badass, then when they fight naturally bigger guys they get flattened. obviously killing yourself to make a certain weight is no good eighter, so train for in ring ability and not the scale or the mirror. u will find out what weight is best for u.

You say you're barely starting so you should work on technique, if you train hard you will eventually go into a weight where you feel comfortable im 5'6" and im 117 pounds and i feel really comfortable more than when i was 124
