Agreed, and the only advantage I have on Treadmil is that I am forced to keep a consistant pace because of the treadmil movement. Whereas on the road, I can walk it if I'm tired/lazy, which I do alot. Else the road is much harder and you can force yourself to go harder than youi do on Treadmils.

Roadwork is definately alot better. But when running out on the streets be careful on running on hard ground such as concrete. Overdoing it can cause bad knees or as mentioned earlier on this forum bad hip. If your able to run on a track dirt or grass its better for you. if you cant run outside i suggest jumping rope rather than running on the treadmill. The disadvantage with the treadmill is that when you run you are actually in a floating motion and not advancing it teaches the body poor technique and thus when you are in the ring forced to move and not float you get tired quicker.

I'm gonna start running down the beachfront soon, as I ****ed my ankles up big time from skipping on concrete I know not to run on it

its about a 25 minute walk to the beach, should I jog down there, then run, then jog back, or should I walk down there?

I love them. I've messed my knee up a couple times running on the road no problems with treadmill so far. They're especially good in the winter when it's not safe to run on snow and ice.

I don't know how they compare to regular road work. I'm sure if I was to run three miles in 20 minutes on the road and then run the same speed on a treadmill it would be easier, but I always put the incline up and increase the speed as I go, so for the last 1/2 mile I'm running as fast as the treadmill will go at a good incline.

I do intervals on the treadmill too. Full speed and incline, run 30 seconds on, 20 seconds off for as long as you can.

Sprints I still do outside when the weather is better because the treadmill isn't fast enough.

To sum it all up, if you wanna be serious for boxing, free running is better than machine running any day, for building stamina. It's harder to run outdoors than on a treadmill, so if you run on a treadmill you can go for longer, and cut more weight, thats another reason to run on the treadmill, but unless youre cutting a lot of weight, id suggest just sticking to the good old fashioned outdoors!
I keep seeing you mention "cutting weight". I think you mean losing weight. There's a difference between that and cutting. Cutting is something you do right before a fight; There's a difference.

It got me in ripped so I was happy with it .I used to do 10 milers on it man .My hut was like a f----g sauna somedays in the summer. It went on the bung tho so I just bought a couple of bags instead .Put it at 1 percent incline and it's supposed to be the same as the road .You can put the incline up and do sprints and that as well . It depends on your stamina I think .I done 9 and a half mile on the road the other day and it was s--t .I came in and done 10 rounds of a home conditioning circuit that night and it was much better in less than half the time.

I hate treadmills. I feel on a treadmill I struggle to do more than a few miles where as outdoors Im ok with 6-10 miles. I think its because I just get bored and when on a treadmill all i do is stare at the time or think about how tired I am, where as outside my mind just goes blank and i can carry on for an hour or two

treadmills are easier on your joints and easier to keep track of your speed/ incline, ect. Can be boring as hell thou.

I don't see how people can say it's hard or not as hard as roadwork. It's running. That's all it is. Your body is still gonna get the same effect as running outdoors, well maybe except the eventual loss of your knees (running outside).

The only real difference is the Mental aspect. It puts strain on you mentally when your doing something that isn't familiar. It gets easier as you get familiar with it. That's the only difference.
