It can damage and wear down your joints, but it won't make the muscles weaker.

My joints aren't that good due to weight lifting a few years back, but they feel better the more I run.

The first time I went running a couple of years ago, I was ****** enough to do it on concrete, and my knee hurt for about a week afterwards. Since then I always run on a football field near my house and my legs feel absolutley fine.

I also cycle a lot, but IMO running is superior because you can control how much you do and the pace. When I go cycling I have to stop at traffic lights, look out for traffic etc. and so it's a lot more start-stop rather than continuous or at my own pace.

If you start running, you should feel your legs adapt a bit more each time, and the soreness will be less each time, because your legs are strengthening and getting used to the exercise.

If you feel that at present your stamina isn't an issue/problem, then keep doing what you're doing.

HOWEVER, keep pushing yourself at it, you gotta get better and better, no matter how comfortable you feel you are at present.

I would advise mixing sprint/HIIT training in there, can't beat that. Though it is a killer!

If you live in a block of flats or some highrise type of building you should do stair sprints, basically run up as many set of stairs as you can and then go back down and do it again.

Its iced over outside so I cant run today but instead Ive been doing stair sprints, and I swear it works your legs like nothing else, also less damaging to the joints compared to running on concrete.
